@grittysoldier: Shin splints suck…. But there are things you can do to mitigate them! Shin splints are typically caused by over-utilization of the tibialis muscles, which are the thin muscles surrounding the tibia muscles. The pain is from the muscle a, not the shin bone (in most causes). A lot of times, tight or underdeveloped calves force more reliance on the tibialis, causing the pain. So, if you train these muscles correctly, you’ll limit the chances of shin splints AND help them heal faster if you still end up with them. 👊 Here’s what you should do. For all of these exercises, conduct with light weight, 3 sets / 10-12 reps. You can do them 2-3x a week! 1️⃣ Cable Tibialis Anterior Raises 2️⃣ Cable Ankle Inversion & Eversion 3️⃣ Standing Calf Raises As always, stretching is critical for injury mitigation and recovery! These are the two very best things to do to combat shin splints, in my experience. Do this immediately after endurance work and leg day! 1️⃣ Foam Roll (roll 30-60s at three angles, each leg) 2️⃣ Standing calf stretch (hold 30-60s each leg) If shin splints are or have been an issue in the past, this will absolutely help you. Comment with “F Shin Splints!” to let me know you’ll give these exercises a try! 🤜 🤛 I’m using the Spirit B52 Home Gym System from @Major Fitness|Home Gym in this video. It’s got it all, and the cables are especially smooth. If you’re looking for a setup, I’d recommend this one. . #shinsplints #Running #rucking #injurypreventiontraining #militaryfitness

Definitely don’t do tibialis raises while you have shin splints it will just irritate them. When they go away then do them.

I only wear barefoot/zero drop shoes so the only time I get shin splints is when I have to move to my Solomon quest gtx hiking boots for severe weather conditions. It’s the increased drop that does that to me. Any other time I can go 30+ miles a day with no issue at all.

I think tendinitis in the elbow and itb pain are both more common than shinsplints. A lot of guys have horrible form on pullups and don’t understand the importance of training pullups in a neutral grip regular grip closegrip and wide grip and nobody really foam rolls their itb or does hip stretches+band work. Would really appreciate a video on this actually just to hear more on that from your perspective
