I agree with all of your suggestions except Ethiopia, and perhaps a few Francophone countries. For the American diaspora, linguistic and cultural familiarity is essential for a successful return to Africa. Ethiopia is uniquely complex—linguistically, culturally, and spiritually—and has been simmering for decades with unresolved conflicts among its more than 80 ethnic groups. Even for me, as an Ethiopian, returning—or even visiting—feels like walking on eggshells.

The lucky ones are Jamaicans because this Island was exclusively populated with people from the Gold Coast which means they’re either from Ghana or from Ivory Coast (Côte d’Ivoire).

Maybe it’s a blessing to be able to choose. Because no matter where you are in Africa, no cop will harrass you, nobody will look down on you, no one will follow you around in a store because they think you’re a thief, and more importantly, no one will ever think you don’t belong. As someone who’s been in 10 of the 54 African countries, my opinion is Ivory Coast is the best place overall in West Africa (much better than Senegal which is why 1+ million Senegalese live there) and Kenya is the best overall in East Africa. But as a former French colony, Ivory Coast is a French speaking country, which is why many settle for neighboring Ghana. Ghana & Ivory Coast share the same Ashanti people, but Ivory Coast also has other distinct peoples. Both are strong economies and good options, but Ivory Coast has. MUCH better food. Both have good business opportunities but mind you, both have also corrupt administrations
