I think people romanticize it because it looks like they’re having fun and they’re dressed pretty decently (even tho ofc they aren’t doing well they’re homeless…). Whereas homelessness in the us is often associated with dirty sweatpants and hoodies, sitting by the side of road and looking miserable. By visuals alone it seems better but anyone who can think longer than a minute should understand it isn’t. Homelessness sucks pretty much everywhere it is.

I also think it’s because they look put together. To us in the US, they don’t look homeless. They look like teens having fun. It’s not until you actually understand the situation that you realize how terrible it is. Because surface level they just look like kids being goofy and it’s what’s normal in atleast my area of the states.
