I know someone who had her sibling declared a ward of the state when her parents died. People acted like she was a monster but I sympathize with her decision . Her parents died, exhausted, in their 60’s. She was looking for peace.

This is the exact scenario I brought up with my husband when we were discussing having children or not. I told him that this could very well be a possibility and it was not something I was willing to do. We’ve been married six years and are child free by choice and could not be happier with our decision.

this story demonstrates the affect of severe autism on families and communities.. i want to give this woman a hug and help her..my son has autism (im 48) and we dont know if he will live an independant life as he is progressing however slow and we dont know what his future holds.. when we die he has aunts and a sister that could help him , however i see that as our job..hey have their own life and i could never ask them to give that up..in saying that im worried sick he will be left without so im working and studying..ive also started a business to try and support his future..my partner works himself to death and suffers alot of physical pain and we are both drained...i hope this woman has happiness in her future and theres some outside help so she can have her own life xxx
