@jettsetfarmhouse: I will never forget to look on the pediatrician's face in the ER right before my c-section when she asked how the births of our other four children had gone. When we told her that big brother had been in the NICU, I could instantly tell that she knew where this was headed. Sure enough, as soon as they pulled him from my stomach, he was quickly whisked away to the NICU. They called it “wimpy white male syndrome”. #newborn #newbornbaby #nicubaby
My “wimpy white male” who refused to eat for almost 16 hrs post birth. The nursery nurse had to force feed/choke it down his throat. He’s now 6 months old in the 97th percentile for his weight 🥹

I find that term very problematic and derogatory. Imagine us making terms like this for others???

I was hysterical trying to walk and follow my son into the nicu after just giving birth and having stitches. If I would’ve heard this term I actually would’ve lost it.

As a mom to a preemie boy born 13 weeks early, I can completely relate how that term hit…HARD💙 ❤️🩹 104 days in the NICU - he turns 14 next month and is happy and healthy. Sending you love and strength.

My baby girl was gonna have to go to the NICU and some of the nurses didn’t see she was a she in the chart and they had asked. They responded well at least it isn’t a boy and they explained that white male infants are harder to stabilize and they have a harder time. My girl was in and out in 4 hours

The first time I heard a nurse refer to my son that way, I was like what..what did you call him. She quickly explained. He is a HS football player now and never missed a beat. He’s got this mama!!

The doctor called my son this “very lovingly” when he was born at 34 weeks. He was also snuggling him during a pandemic saying this. I’d been admitted for a month. His wife was the also works there and made him say sorry when we were discharged 8 days later lol!!
