totaly missing the point. Rome had no industry related to methane. The growth of the empire was due to climate getting warmer, aka good times. when it gets warmer more plant matter is digested by methane emitting backterias. so Rome is the result, not the cause. this is not science, but propaganda

How do you know it's only from the Roman Empire? There was bigger populations in bigger empires in the same period: Persia, India, and Han China. At 200 CE, the fall of the Han dynasty greatly reduced their population due to civil wars.
