The fact the school did this is to provide more accessibility for your kid. The more who know it the more people he’ll get to talk to. This is a wonderful thing. Love it

I am currently coaching a kid who is deaf and I’m trying to learn as much ASL as I possibly can so I can understand him, and he can understand me. Do you have any advice for me on how to learn ASL?

Girl you need an advocate. The district I work in, a student with any kind of needs always has someone there to support if needed.

Does he have an interpreter during the day? If so, I think his IEP/504 may cover him having someone there for school events like this and the bus even like you mentioned in another video

I’m currently taking ASL classes, and taking courses to become an ASL interpreter. My son is deaf & I see such a lack of representation in the deaf community when it comes to interpretation. It’s very hard to find ASL interpreters in hospitals or schools, let alone public settings & I want to change that. I want to become a change for my son and other kids like him because of situations just like this.!!

Our kiddo is not deaf or HOH but she goes to a small school with some deaf staff, kids, and parents. All of the staff sign and they offer classes to teach everyone else. We are taking the class now and teaching our child to sign so we all can communicate with everyone.

Love watching you! My son is deaf as well. I’m learning ASL and I’m curious if you tend to use SEE compared to ASL?

I wish sign language was offered as a foreign language! Or even better start it in elementary school. Even just some of the signs. I did it with my babies at daycare and it’s amazing what they were able to learn ❤️
