You can have hypermobile joints without being hypermobile, and you can have hypermobility without having ehler Danlos. Stretchy skin is usually to help EDS diagnosis with the combination of organ issues, dental issues, bladder control issues, hernias, easy bruises, …

I didn't have stretchy skin until recently (I think my hormones have changed as I age). suddenly the skin is stretchy and the joints are completely floppy. it's very common to have constant bracing in your body and tight facia, it's you're nervous system overcompensating

I’m diagnosed with mid range hyper mobility spectrum disorder. I have very bendy easily dislocated joints but tight skin and no easy bruising.

FYI there’s a new diagnostic criteria for EDS and hypermobility coming out I think later this year!!

My son and I both have hypermobility syndrome, as you get older it gets better. Also another sign is if you hold your arm out straight palm up and your elbow moves upward and higher than upper and lower arm. I have RA and tight skin. My son blew out his iliotibial band in his hip at 6 playing soccer, and can rotate his knees at a 90 degree ankle still at 24. I have pulled, strained and torn many ligaments.

I could technically do the skin but it hurts too much 😂 hEDs is a very flexible (haha) disorder since it influences connective tissue. and guess what is connective tissue? everything. Also the beighton test was made for children and does not take into account (micro) traumas to the joints by usage of the body. I do not fit all categories but I did get my diagnosis.😊

my skin is NOT stretchy at all! Literally no elasticity in my skin whatsoever. But my hyper mobility ticks a lot of boxes for EDS except for anything dislocating

I would love to know too!! I’m so curious if I have Eds, but don’t seem as hyper mobile as you would need to be to qualify? Not sure but this is such a good question!

sounds like me, and same here I cant get diagnose or Even looked at Because there is same things as with you :/ also, I feel like muscle tention is keeping me together, like tight hip flexors and everything is just so tight giving tension headaches etc. but when I can relax The muscles, I just bend like crazy. My masseuse was flabbergasted when she started doing shiatsu For me as she could just bend and knead me like s dough when I was relaxed. also I have very soft skin as you have

I have heds and I also have one hypomobile (reduced range of motion) hip. The other hip is hypermobile, and the combo of the two messes me up big time.

My hands is like the ONE part of my body that isn’t made of jelly 😭 and yet it makes up 4/9 points for the hypermobility test. I’ve got the wrists, elbows, knees, FEET hypermobility. My fingers have decent mobility (almost 90 backwards) but I’m not sure if it quite passes that criteria for the test. I also feel like I have very tight skin but I have a skin condition (eczema) which might be why.

sometimes i can stretch my skin and sometimes it's so tight I have to try multiple times just to pinch it idk if I'm hypermobile but i think i might be even though I'm really inflexible so I'm really not sure
