Plasma centers have different policies than clinics/hospitals as it’s not considered healthcare it’s a business. They only have to change their gloves in between sticks and a vp to dc. Not required in medical history unless blood comes in contact. Some centers only require if they have opium or blood contact. Saying this as a past fellow plasma center supervisor

As someone that actually worked for biolife plasma I can assure you the policy on changing gloves is so heavy 😩 and important, I had a coworker who wasn’t and u can report it to the training supervisor!! Bc they reported him multiple times!!

ooou omg report them girl. i work at a plasma donation center and our #1 rule is sanitation 😩i get messy EVERY time i touch a donor & they want to say it’s not a risk??? our iodine looks unsanitary on our gloves i cannot imagine working w the same gloves for hours that’s absolutely insane

That’s crazy they probably don’t care because it’s not going to sick patients plasma is usually used for cosmetics or medications but still it’s unhygienic going between donors and not changing your gloves the donors could get sick from that

Yeah some plasma places have it so you only change gloves when they actually get dirty or soiled… otherwise yeah they will keep the same gloves. I work at Grifols and they have a strict glove changing policy.

I know several people that have worked at BioLife. They are not only not required per their SOPs not to change gloves but they are also discouraged from doing so by their managers due to budgeting! Just a really shady company, honestly, I would go to just about any other plasma center other than them (coming from a plasma phleb!

Wow that’s concerning, when I donate blood they set a timer to clean for 30 seconds and dry for 30 seconds which I think it a bit much tbh 😅a

It was in octapharmas policy to only change gloves when soiled. You did not have to change them between every donor.
