the friend’s current partner was an option, and the friend wants the mutual friend to be the same. and those who are saying the friend is justified in asking that, she is not. personally, i dont think dating someone who your friend once dated is a problem, its only made a problem once the person who has no control over the situation tries to take control. she can voice her opinions and discomfort, but she has a man so what is she uncomfortable about? the timing is also suspicious. why ask that of op after he and his girlfriend have split? where was this concern when he was still in a relationship? it is not on op to be a yes man all for her friend’s insecurity, if her friend cant commit to one relationship and actually be in love with someone without needing options, then she shouldnt be dating anyone
