Eyes can also be “whatu” ( far to ) when we sing head shoulders knees and toes with tamariki in NZ that’s the translation chosen in the song ☺️I just learnt that they can be known as something else now from you so that’s awesome! I love learning new te reo as a teacher 💛

(Also white Aussie with Māori babies) when my kids were babies, I taught myself head shoulders knees and toes (well in te reo it’s more heads, shoulders, belly, hips and legs 🤣) but it helped soooo much to learn in song form, I will never forget it again. Same for colours. Love to see other Aussie mums teaching their babies Te reo Māori x

You should watch Takaro Tribe/sing the songs with Tide- my boys LOVED it as bubbas and still sing them and now the are 5 and 3 and their dad is Māori and I’m Australian
