He was born with thick blonde locks and as he’s grown, so has his love for having it long. When it’s tied up for school he looks completely different, but the minute he lets it down, you can see his confidence come back. It’s become part of who he is. People often assume I make him keep it long, but it’s actually the opposite. It’s his choice. We’ve always wanted our boys to know that their hair, their clothes and the way they express themselves should be up to them. Long hair doesn’t make him any less of a boy. It just makes him Jax. He dreams of growing it long enough to break a world record one day, and I absolutely love that he has a goal that’s so uniquely him. Yes, it takes looking after but he’s great at doing that and I l love that he has that ability at a young age. Seeing him feel completely comfortable being himself makes every knot and tangle worth it. In a world that often tries to put children into boxes, I hope my boys always know they never have to fit inside one.
