That's why they are the hardest to overcome, because there's nothing concrete to process, but rather a bunch of illusions that were created and never materialized.

We can’t move on because it never happened. We just keep the illusion of the unreal version of that special person and since they never gave us anything we just can’t take them off of the pedestal. Because it was just a beautiful dream. Because in our mind we could have been so perfect that we crave and fall for a flawless connection. Truth is we are unwanted but we rather to keep overthinking about all the untrue signals that probably meant nothing for them.
