that carbon monoxide detector is useless. the detector needs to be at floor height because carbon monoxide is a heavy gas

Having a detector at any height is better than not having one. CO doesn’t just stay at the ceiling, it mixes with room air. Having the detector at breathing height is optimal, but lower is OK.

That is not the right place for a CO detector. It needs to be in the hallways less than 3 feet off the ground and near sleeping areas.

Carbon monoxide detectors led to be closer to the floor. Carbon monoxide is heavier than air so you may not get readings that high off the ground

Must be placed near the floor

Can I use this on battery power too? When I camp off grid, I’d need it to be on battery.

I need the gas detector. I can’t smell anything. I have one on my gas powered fireplace on the hearth

It’s not a carbon monoxide detector. It’s a carbon monoxide alarm. A detector cost far more than that. It’s not design to save your life in levels become dangerous. Saves you life but does not prevent you from being poisoned
