The veterans alleged that the money was initially held at the National Treasury before being deposited at the NSSF, where they were directed to follow up on the matter. They told journalists that President William Ruto had informed them that the funds had already been deposited. The group also lauded President Ruto for his continued support of the Mau Mau veterans.
