Please add iron panel! I thought I had heart issues, turns out it was really low ferritin at 40 years old causing extremely heavy periods and putting me into a vicious cycle!

Great advice for the wealthy who can pay out of pocket. Good luck getting these covered if you don’t have a reason (and you’re going to pay anyway if you haven’t met your deductible yet).

I’ve had all these. I am pre-diabetic which I knew, and my thyroid is normal except for high antibodies. No one will do anything since the other numbers are normal.

Please look into laboratory assist .com I got an order of my choice of labs (5 in total) and I paid $170. They do not take insurance. It’s like a nonprofit. They use Their doctors to write you the order of the labs you picked. They have a huge lab menu to pick from. Example..CBC $7 CMP $7. It’s been a lifesaver!

I continue to have bad numbers on my blood sugar, but the doctor won't order a proper blood glucose test, despite the fact my entire family has diabetes. Am I asking for the wrong thing.

The first 3 are very routine so if they're not automatically doing these, you may need a new provider

I asked and insurance doesn’t cover. Vitamin D alone would be $290

And if you go through Jason health or a company like that and this is not sponsored, I just looked it up because I'm fighting with my doctor to get some of these labs ordered if you pay out-of-pocket it's about $1100 for all of those

I wish another professional organization works step up to the plate and recommend Vit D screening so insurance would cover it. The endocrinologist recommend against screening so my patients often get charged hundreds of dollars for that one. Maybe ACOG or AAFP could weigh in and advocate

Reminder that zinc and magnesium are best assessed using RBC levels rather than serum as serum levels often do not reflect intracellular status.
