@jacobzemer: Obesity: does it run in your genes? The answer is more complex than you might think. Obesity is primarily a result of lifestyle choices, and a lot of that is learned through your environment. If you grew up in a household where staying active and eating healthy were not important, you are much more likely to become obese. In fact, the primary predictor of a child becoming obese is their mother. If a mother exercises and is active on a regular basis, her children are significantly more likely to exercise regularly. People don’t choose to be obese. They choose the things that cause them to be obese, like having a poor diet and not exercising. This is an important distinction, because very few people would choose to look like an overweight person. Most people would prefer to have a lean, athletic appearance. However, they prefer not to make choices like eating healthy and exercising. You become obese from overeating. This is not a genetic factor. It’s a lifestyle factor. Regardless of your genetics, you still have to put in work. 🔗 in our bio to download our app and start putting in your work today.
