I understand you’re trying to stop the fear mongering, but it feels dismissive of those of us who DO get it as bad and who it isn’t “usually” dormant within. Rather than downplaying it (understandably so to de stigmatise it) we should also talk about how we can support those that do get many outbreaks, rather than putting the focus on how to still make people without it, feel more comfortable to be around us that do. At the end of the day it is a life long disease and all people with herpes seem to talk about online is how to stop worrying about giving it to others rather than how to actually live with the virus. They say if you look after yourself you will protect others, unfortunately for many females this is not true. This space should be for helping people live with it rather than de stigmatising it for those that don’t have it I feel

After taking valacyclovir for 6 months and not having an outbreak in more than a year my doctor said that my herpes is so controlled shedding should happen very rarely to the point I dont need to think about it. She said its now like chicken pox and it will prob come back at some point in the future due to a high stress attack when im older just like chicken pox
