Sayed allegedly hired Wiandre Pretorius with facilitation by SAPS Major-General Feroz Khan to help combat rivals in the illicit cigarette trade. 5. Wiandre Pretorius died by suicide on Saturday, 7 February 2026. Pretorius had been named in testimony at the Madlanga Commission. Linked to the murder of “Witness D” Marius van der Merwe. 6. Sayed also previously employed Matipandile “Andy” Sotheni as a personal bodyguard. 7. Sotheni has since been linked as a suspect of interest in high-profile murders, including that of Madlanga Commission

Malema has described Mazzotti as a friend and publicly defended their association, stating at a 2023 EFF gala dinner: "We are very proud of Adriano Mazzotti and are not ashamed to associate with him." 12.
