@ktlynlifts: 1. Poor nutrition: Training hard won’t matter if you’re not eating in alignment with your goal (fat loss, muscle gain, recomp). Your body needs the right balance of protein, carbs, fats, and micronutrients to actually change and grow the way you want it to. Food=fuel, and you can’t train when you’re not getting enough. Prioritize 0.8-1.1g protein/lb bodyweight, and trust in carbs. They are your main source of energy and fuel!! Track your meals and see the difference it makes. 2. Lack of intensity: Progressive overload is crucial. If you are finishing every set with 4-5 reps left in the tank you aren’t stressing your muscles enough to ever progress or grow. Lifting the same weights every week gives your body no reason to grow, it’s already adapted. Push yourself each week!! 3. Skipping Rest days: Muscles grow when you’re resting, not when you’re training. If you aren’t taking proper rest days you are going to be more fatigued, at a greater risk for injury, and have slower results. REST! 4. Inconsistency: Results come from showing up repeatedly, and sticking to the same lifts, pushing them harder each week. Jumping around in a program or simply not showing up isn’t going to help you progress. Repeat the basics over and over, stick to it. Do the boring things. Do them consistently. And progress will come. - from someone who’s been in the gym pretty much her whole life in one way or another, and has learned through trial and error. Once I kept these things on track I noticed significantly more progress than when I was worried about my carb intake, under-eating, not pushing myself, and not resting properly. I hope this helps!!
