@thenatureeducator: This is BANANAS 🍌! The second largest slug in the WORLD can grow up to 25cm (9.8 inches) long and hit a top speed of a whopping 16.5cm (6.5 inches) per minute (0.009 km/hr or 0.006 miles/ hr) . Banana slugs are named after their yellow to green colour and black-brown spots/blobs, which resemble the appearance of a banana of any ripeness! They are also long and narrow, similar to a banana’s shape. Their colour depends on diet and environmental factors such as moisture and light exposure. Slugs are important decomposes as they break down waste and leaves, which goes into the soil to support the ecosystem! Look for these slimy friends cruising along forest floors in the Pacific Northwest from Alaska to California! #bananaslug #biodiversity #naturelovers #slug #pacificnorthwest
