here in the UK I have an adapted lowered floor VW transporter and they moved the fuel tank to the back.like this but they have to fit a stainless tank and cannot use a plastic tank.

the problem with the Pinto was la protruding bolt that came in front of the tank and the recall put a thick piece of plastic to protect the tank from puncturing
