Yoga pigeon pose, depending on the style, is not always about stretching but achieving a certain alignment. Not always beneficial. Seated pigeon is also a better option without pushing on the knee

Thank you for showing how to get to the correct position , slowly ! So many do these things so quick that the subtle nuances (such as not twisting hip as you demonstrated ) are missed. Showing how NOT to do something is as useful as showing how to do it correctly . Thank you 👏👏👏👏💪💪💪

Anyone saying it isn't a pigeon pose. it is, it takes a lot of flexibility to do it properly. If you see them doing it where their knee is to their chest, it's because they can keep perfect square alignment. You can definitely do it without flexibility, but you will turn your hip to try to accomplish it and this is what be is showing you. If you're not flexible, it will look like this until you progress
