I live in upstate New York and this got me through the winter. Well worth the money. If you have deep snow, you just have to start it the top layer and go down. It works well.

I have the original blue snow Joe from 2019 and it still is running today and I beat the crap out of it if I’ve got anything under 8 inches of snow I used to do my whole driveway and I have an average side driveway. It’s worth every dollar 💯

I've got one just used it in our storm here in New York. it's not amazing. but it definitely works like you stated. not gonna be as effective as a snowblower but definitely great for paths and small driveways.
