I agree. I also think millennials were pushed to go to school, thinking it was the only way to get a job or succeed. Now a ton of us have massive student loans, no career and a jaded perspective on higher education. We’re mad and we’ve made higher education seem to be a useless endeavor to our children

I studied plants and landscape systems. Sure it’s not a typical degree and I may not even work in it my whole life but I learned SO MUCH about life in general just from going to college.

I completely agree. I’ve literally had people laugh in my face and say I’m in college to be unemployed because I am a psychology, major with minors in women and gender studies and child and family development

i’m a business major and i think it’s so weird that ppl hate on it like all my classes were hard and i had to work for it? and i think it prepared me SUPER well for the field that i went into + i had to do so many group projects that i already knew how to get along w people

gender studies major here!! yeahh some people are like "just take the classes as electives and do smth useful" and like. no. this is the major i chose, I think its really important in our world, and the sociology and creative writing minors are to help me make this education what society deems "useful" hopefully through grad school and becoming a professor myself

I think it’s also a very American thing because higher education is so expensive and everything is dedicated towards the economy and hyper capitalism so degrees like history or philosophy are seen as “useless”, but in places like France for example where higher education is much more accessible and long standing history of academia, having a university academic background in things like history or philosophy etc is seen as respected and educated in a good sense
