Just checked mine. In 2017- as far back as my statements go- it was £25k. Today it’s £30k. I’ve been paying it back every month since I graduated in 2012.

In Canada interest rates on student loans is zero, it is essentially free money, the government loses on the interest because the value gets eaten by inflation, however they get a higher skilled workforce and in the long run likely generate far more in taxes and economic output than they would have otherwise. Interest free student loans are a good thing (and I am a capitalist most of the time so don’t confuse that I just believe it’s a better long thinking economic move)

This is the same in Aus 💔 I'll be roughly $115k in debt from my studies to become a psychologist and this will rise if nothing changes. all I want to do is help people but I'll be in debt for a long long time because of it...
