but we are also on a clear disinflationary environment, with the real inflation at ~1.7% or so. this is because individuals and small and mid-sized businesses are absolutely devastated and consumption is collapsing. no one has spare money to spend, as evidenced by the real estate market, cars and many other markets. they might also be protecting the dollar from the global deflation

That would be fantastic! Inflation is great for the general public. Morgage stays the same, but the home values go up. Stocks go up, income goes up.
