I’m of the opinion that Nohadon is the original holder of Adonalsium. He shed his power and walked among humans. The Iriali worship a god that split himself among all because he knew everything but experienced nothing. That’s Adonalsium. Roshar was very important to Ado. Dalinar consistently heard a voice saying “unite them”. He sees a figure in the distance, a god beyond, who he has allegiance to after becoming a heretic. The one who claimed Dalinar is Adonalsium/Nohadon. Noh “Adon”(alsium)

My theory is Dalinar was claimed by Navani and The Sibling. Since the Sibling is part Honor and Cultivation, it would have the greatest claim. Navani surrounded herself in a giant gemstone. “How do you trap a Spren, lure it with something it loves” Dalinars nickname for Navani is also Gemstone.

To add to this, cause I love this theory, we learned some interesting things about the moons of Roshar in W&T that hinted at the possibility of a fourth shard lurking in the background the whole time. If Valor has been hiding on roshar, and we are first shown evidence of that in W&T, it fits the plot to also have Valor DO something in that same book. So we get clues that Valor could be in hiding, then Dalinar does something that is massively “valorous” and in turn is saved from odium by another shard. The simplest answer is Valor claimed Dalinar.

I think the implication is that the God Beyond is who snatched him away. Sando always leaves room for an in-world explanation though. When Dalinar goes for his boom from cultivation the following is said. That’s her “claim” on him: “IT WILL DO ME WELL TO HAVE A PART OF YOU, EVEN IF YOU ULTIMATELY BECOME HIS” (meaning Odium’s champion)

but Valor would be a pull out of nowhere with no indication of it ever having anything to do with any book other than the one time that hoid says he doesn't know where she is. and cultivation would be the most reasonable choice from her words to him when talking about what she is taking from him. "It will do me well to have a part of you" I think this is the only hint at anyone getting a piece of dalinar.

I think this could also track, because at the end of W&T, Hoid is forced to leave Roshar- which is perfect timing for Valor to involve herself, since she is actively hiding from him.

I think that it could also be Navani. During their wedding night, she said that he is her's. I believe that Honor remembers that Oath and mistook it as that his soul is protected by her🤷🏼♂️

it's cultivation, she was the one who told Dalinar, "these words are accepted," when he became Honor, no other shard had that happen when being picked up. Noadan is a Dawnshard, it's why he can talk to Wit and knows about things presently happening.

A lot of my theory depends on whether or not Noadan is a dawnshard, if not then it was cultivation that made Noadan appear to make Dalinar think of giving up the shards to force the powers to finally do something instead of sitting back, Noadan knew way too much.

I think that is Unide a far away awakened Downshard that have Conection with Dalinar and we’ve seen it as Evi, Nohadon and even Tien when Kal was conected with Dalinar in RoW 😅😂

I feel like he wouldn't have left a breadcrumb if it was cultivated, he'd just say that the powers could tell it was her. The fact it's unresolved means there's a more satisfying secret here. So yeah, 100% agree.
