@madssdoug: What my baby ate today 🤍 Swipe to see what was offered vs what was eaten We’re practising baby-led weaning with responsive feeding, starting solids is about skill development, sensory exploration and nutrient exposure. Milk feeds remain her primary source of nutrition, meals are always pressure-free and baby-led. Not pictured: nursing sessions, EBM bottles and water offered after each meal) 🍞 Breakfast • Toast slices with mashed avocado, remaining goats cheese & hemp seeds — healthy fats for brain development, early dairy exposure, and non-heme iron from hemp seeds • Toast with mashed banana, peach & almond butter — allergen exposure paired with familiar textures • Peach half — a vitamin C source to support iron absorption • Pineapple sticks (one flesh, one core) — pineapple is new to her. She’s cutting her first tooth, so the firm core was offered for oral exploration and potential teething relief under supervision 🐟 Lunch • Homemade salmon, broccoli & potato fingers — offering protein, omega-3 fats, and iron from broccoli • Cucumber quarters for grip, crunch and biting practice 🐟 Dinner (shared family meal, safely adapted) • Wild-caught salmon topped with homemade pistou (not pesto — different sauce, part of my meal) • Peach half — vitamin C • Broccolini with a small amount of garlic butter (also part of my meal) — continuing exposure to family flavours Salt & sugar note: Family meals are offered in small amounts and adapted where needed (her salmon was cooked in the air fryer with no added salt, pepper, or oil, and her broccolini was steamed and topped with unsalted garlic butter I made). Overall intake remains low in added salt and sugar, with most meals home-prepared. Allergen Note: Iris has been safely exposed to dairy, wheat, fish, and almonds so incorporating them through her day together is not a concern for us. She does seem to have some mild dairy intolerance that’s only noticable if she gets large amounts of dairy. Her father and Iare the same and we have minimal dairy in our diets anyway. Some days include new foods, most include repetition, and some include a bit of both. We’re aiming for 100 foods by One and we’re well on our way. Learning to eat isn’t linear it’s built through exposure, curiosity and trust over time 🤍 #whatmybabyeats #babyledweaning #blw #startingsolids #dayonaplate

Lovely meals 😊 I don’t think chia seeds are meant to be eaten unsoaked though!
