My uncle “ran” the torch in 96 and passed away in 98. I didn’t understand at the time the mechanics of the Olympic torch and when I was old enough to ask, he was gone. Thank you for explaining this. A little piece of my soul is healed. ❤️🩹

Fun fact. I jumped into the flame ceremony in College Station TX when it stopped by on its way to Atlanta. By jumped in I mean I literally jumped out of an airplane and parachuted into the ceremony. I was cool.
