Kamala's campaign felt like a fever dream. It was mostly memes, pop culture reference, and celebrity endorsements every week.

well that’s because the democratic party has been actually leaning heavily centrist since the reagan era. they are not democrats, MUCH LESS leftist and are looking to still uphold capitalism while appealing to gen z…

I really disagree with this assessment. Democrats almost always run on policy. But the people don’t want that. They do want culture war stuff. They like to feel passion. Mamdani’s policies are similar to the usual progressive New Yorker. But he had a team of underemployed creatives constantly pumping out videos of him. How is his campaign more “substantive” than Bill DeBlasio? (Who was a pretty good mayor.) You said you want more politicians who look good in a suit. Well, enjoy Gavin Newsom. Everything you said was based on vibes. Even looking in the comments here, there’s lots about how there’s no working class party. Well considering how diverse the working class in America is, people would be unhappy with a truly populist party. The Democrats are a broad coalition of different minority interests: race, sexuality, environment, labor, and increasingly gender. It’s a series of compromises that the Republicans just don’t have to worry about as much and cater to as much.

I need to see accomplishments to sway my vote. Like if you think we need public housing for poor people okay fine then actually build it! Make it exist! Don’t just talk about it. Or better public transit, okay make it happen. I won’t vote for simply ideas. I feel like red states have accomplished more without even trying more simply getting out of the way. Texas builds more new solar than CA, Florida has the brightline train while CAHSR is 20 years away. I love MA but nothing gets accomplished in decades

I like Mamdani a lot but the idea that his policy proposals were serious and it’s why his campaign worked is a misconception. 2/3 of his big policy proposals don’t have wide support among *progressive* subject matter experts and he knows this. The catchy-slogan proposals was him jangling keys to people who don’t know better. It was a campaign through and through.
