There are several moments in this situation where an American police officer would be liable to punishment. It starts with unnecessary verbal abuse. Excessive force, the use of handcuffs as coercive measures, and pepper spray are all legally recognized forms of violence. Then come the repeated punches to her face, followed by dragging her and slamming her head into the police vehicle. None of this reflects lawful enforcement. Powerlessness often turns into the urge for unchecked power when an officer loses focus or authority. But professional behavior is not the same as ego-driven dominance. Professionalism means staying rational, observing clearly, and giving calm, convincing instructions. When an officer loses focus and overview, frustration grows, and unnecessary aggression follows. That is where protocols, proportionality, and subsidiarity are ignored, and that is where enforcement stops being lawful.
