@storypulze: The Infomercial Millionaire Who Built a $50M Scam Empire | The Don Lapre Story. If you watched late-night TV in the 1990s, you probably remember Don Lapre, the infomercial king who claimed you could make millions from your kitchen table. But behind the motivational speeches and “get rich quick” programs was one of the most shocking business downfalls ever. Don Lapre went from failed businesses to building a company reportedly worth over $40 million, selling financial systems, 1-900 numbers, and “business opportunities.” But when his empire started collapsing, he launched his biggest scheme yet — a vitamin company called “The Greatest Vitamin in the World.” He claimed the pills could cure serious diseases and turned the business into a massive recruitment operation involving over 200,000 sellers. Regulators stepped in, the FDA issued warnings, and federal investigators hit him with 41 fraud charges, accusing him of running a multimillion-dollar scam. Facing decades in prison, Don Lapre’s story ended in tragedy inside a jail cell — closing the chapter on one of the most infamous late-night TV empires in history. #crime #crimestory #truecrimestories #realcrimestory
