@itsmrskelly: I’m gonna be honest with you. For the last year and some change I have dedicated nearly everyday of my life to animating and drawing Mr Skelly. Each animation here takes an average of 30 hours to produce, so every 7 seconds that you see has that amount of time into it. I have so enjoyed building little vignettes of animation for the format of Instagram. I mean truly, I have done this almost entirely for the audience. That’s funny to me, of course it has benefits to me in many ways, this has been the best way for me to learn how to play again. I love figuring out what works and what doesn’t, what gets attention, what’s fun to market. But Mr Skelly has turned me into an animation hound. I am trying my best to figure out how to do new movements, how do I learn something today to put it into practice tomorrow. When I first started drawing Mr Skelly when I moved to Tasmania, it was an outlet for me and yesterday we got published by Penguin Books. I just cannot explain to you how important it is you simply try something new. Keep learning. Keep trying. You never know where you’ll end up, you’ll never be able to envision what’s meant for you if you don’t first take that step out of your door of comfort. I actually designed these two animations separately to eachother and while working today I thought they must coexist, so here it is. I also enjoyed the sound design aspect of this and hope you do too. I can only hope my work continues to touch you in all the important ways.
