It’s horrifying when you think about what he did overseas to survive and then he comes back home to his brother playing daddy to his children

Reading these comments I’m understanding that not a lot of people have a good understanding of ptsd- it wasn’t anything to do with the brother and wife. While yes, that triggered his episode- he is clearly showing signs of deep mental distress from what he previously suffered as a pow- when his brother hugged him and his nervous system regulated for a bit and then he lashed out with the gun. He is displaying symptoms of ptsd when he is looking around and asking “who are you” His brain is suffering because it is damaged, he believes that he is still in danger and can no longer differentiate between the past while he suffered his trauma and the present. His whole episode was triggered by stress response with the balloon noises as well. It could have reminded him of loud gunfire. I love when they make movies like this because it is very accurate of what it feels like to live with a mental illness. I love breaking it down because it is very clear to me that most people are not aware of these types of illnesses and the effect they have on our bodies, lives and loved ones.
