Sits on the bench. "Did you write it?" Yoonchae nods. Picking at her sleeve. "Last week. When I couldn’t sleep." She looks at Megan. “It’s for you." Megan’s breath catches. “For me?" "Yeah.” Yoonchae says. Voice steady but soft. "I’m really bad at this. With words. So I wrote it. Because I like you. A lot. For a long time." Megan reaches over. Takes Yoonchae’s hand. "I like you too.” Megan says. “I’ve liked you for months. I just didn’t know if you felt the same." Yoonchae exhales. Relief. "Really? I thought I was being too quiet about it." "You’re not.” Megan smiles. “You’re perfect." Silence. But good silence. Yoonchae turns on the bench. Knees touching Megan’s. "Play it again?" Megan asks. Yoonchae nods. Starts playing. Megan leans her head on Yoonchae’s shoulder. Yoonchae keeps playing, but one hand comes up to rest on Megan’s back. Song ends. Yoonchae stops. Turns to face her. "May I?" She asks. Quiet. Megan nods. “Yes." Yoonchae leans in. Soft. Gentle. Kisses Megan on the lips. It’s not rushed. Her hand comes up to cup Megan’s cheek. Thumb brushing once. Megan makes a small sound and kisses back. When they pull apart, they’re still close. "Was that okay?" Yoonchae whispers. Megan laughs. “That was better than okay." "Again?" Yoonchae asks. Megan nods. Second kiss. Longer. Yoonchae’s other hand finds Megan’s in her lap. Laces their fingers. —— 20 minutes later They’re still there. Yoonchae teaching Megan the chords. Megan keeps messing up on purpose. "Stop,” Yoonchae laughs. “You’re not even trying." Megan grins. Kisses her cheek. “Now I am." Yoonchae goes pink. “You can’t kiss me while I’m teaching." "Watch me.” Megan says. And kisses her lips. Quick. Yoonchae groans but kisses her back. —— 1:00AM They finally leave. Sharing Yoonchae’s scarf on the walk home. Megan’s arm linked through Yoonchae’s. "Name the song?" Megan asks. Yoonchae thinks. “ '11pm' " "Nope.” Megan says. “ 'For You'. " Yoonchae smiles. “Okay. 'For You'." —— Next morning Yoonchae sends a voice note. Just piano. Caption: for you. good morning. Megan listens to it while getting ready. Sends back: play it for me tonight? Yoonchae replies: only if you kiss me after. Megan does. Three times. —— 1 month later Concert. Yoonchae on piano. Megan on vocals. Right before the bridge, Yoonchae looks up and mouths. “This is still for you.” Megan misses a lyric. Blames it on the kiss later. After the show, Megan finds a note in her bag.
