@genderless.freak: I just want to preface, this video isn't mocking anyone whose makeup resembles the first look. I'm also not saying that all people who wear that style are seeking male validation. The issue is, some women claim to be goth but cater their makeup to appeal to male viewers,, a style that perpetuates the fetishization of goth people. I usually avoid labeling people as "posers," but in these cases, it fits. If you're rocking that makeup and genuinely listen to goth music, this isn’t about you, I promise. Goth culture is about self-expression, not conforming to a specific look. But in some cases, it’s exactly that. Only and strictly looking a certain way just to please others, when goth culture has always been the opposite of that.
