In gastronomy, Italians are recognized for their way of skipping certain stages of quality and professional service even though they charge a coperto fee…. They should know very well that Italians tend to reduce costs as much as possible to quality, to have extra high prices without having a real basis for the prices, stingy and speculative, Many restaurants even claim to offer the best quality and homemade pasta although from over 15 years of experience I have seen these pre-cooked kept in buckets until they need them, of course there are good and fair places….but to ask for 20-30 euros for a staple dish, prepared with completely inferior quality ingredients with a mediocre to very good taste to throw in the trash….it could be even worse, in Tel Aviv they offer you nothing, neither quality nor conditions but they have prices to buy a house (an espresso €9 for example)…..well there is another tax there, the stupid tax, gastronomy was promised to them 3000 years ago

I didn't eat on my day in Venice and only bought from Chinese vendors, which were surprisingly common. I was also the only one in my friend group who wasn't scammed. You guys visit, I survive.

I have never been charged 15€ for coke in Venice. Last time I was there was 2024 and the most I paid was 6€. Now if you get more than 1 then yes..lol no free refills at most of the restaurants, they give you cans.

Just spent two weeks in Italy. Stay away from prime tourist areas and you pay significantly less for everything. Even less than most places in the US. If you site down at a table you will pay the coperto! Do a little research about the place you are going and you’ll not be surprised when you get there.
