@giovannisiracusaa: Crispy Italian Carnival Pastries Chiacchiere 🇮🇹 Light, crisp, and sweet, chiacchiere are a classic Italian Carnival dessert made during Carnevale. In Italy they are known by different names across Italy...chiacchiere, frappe, bugie, and more. What do you call them? Ingredients: 2 cups 00 flour 2 eggs 2 tbsp sugar 2 tbsp sunflower oil 2 tbsp Grappa Zest of 1 lemon Dash of salt Frying oil (sunflower or neutral oil) Directions: 1. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, sunflower oil, Grappa, lemon zest, and salt. 2. Gradually add the flour, mixing until a dough forms. Transfer to a work surface and knead until smooth and elastic. 3. Cover or wrap the dough and let it rest at room temperature for 30 minutes. 4. Roll the dough out very thin, using a pasta machine or rolling pin. 5. Cut into strips or desired shapes. 6. Heat frying oil to medium heat and fry the chiacchiere in batches until lightly golden and crisp. 7. Transfer to paper towels to drain, then dust generously with powdered sugar. #italianfood #EasyRecipe #fyp

I'm Serbian and my mom did the same thing except before you fry it make a slit in the center and then weave one side of the dough through the slit to make a bow.

My mom used to make these on holidays but she cut a hole in middle & threaded one end thru it to look like a bow. She called them chuffs

My aunt made what she called "nocetta" (pronounced no-ket). She made the strips longer and took two pieces and tied them in a loose knot. They weren't crispy, but more like a cookie consistency. More soft and pillowy. Powdered sugar on top. One of my favorite after school treats 💯💯💯👍
