Part of it is that if it’s something that can raise a $5 million seed and your fund can get into it instead of the a16Z, Sequoya’s of the world that’s probably a signal. Your sweet spot is likely the people that can’t get the attention of a lot of VCs. Finding the diamonds in the rough no one saw versus rocks someone saw but passed on

Makes sense logically and theoretically. I wish I raised less for this venture. But knowing how awful it feels when runway gets tight, I will always understand the desire to take more. But feeling comfortable often conflicts with finding wins.

If you're hungry I think the extra capital early isn't gonna stop you from aggressively pursuing your milestones. If you need to be stressed on cash to be motivated I feel like that might just be the wrong founder for that problem.

That's the problem with VCs, a startup raising $2M to $5M should be using that funds to harden their product while capture market share, thus getting the product to the user base to purchase goods and services, not use funds to build out and try and figure out what next to do or some stupid road map rlin their quest to secure the next round.
