The shooter, Jameko Lee Hayden, was originally charged with murder but later accepted an Alford plea to second-degree manslaughter and gun charges. In April 2023, Hayden was sentenced to just 10 years in prison, sparking outrage from the victim’s family. During the emotional courtroom hearing, Christian’s sister and mother confronted the killer, saying “Ten years is not enough, you still get to breathe.” Tensions ran so high that Christian’s father was reportedly kicked out of the courtroom after an emotional outburst.
