@iamgertrudejordan: In the early to mid stages, individuals diagnosed with dementia still believe they have to go to work. It’s about routine and identity. Please don’t remind them that they don’t have a job, haven’t worked in years, or remind them that they don’t remember. Redirect and reassure. Your approach is everything, and responding in a way that makes them feel loved and validates their feelings will always make the situation a little easier. Always remember, there are outliers; you have to TRY strategies until they work, and you may have to shift, and being patient will help you navigate this disease. #alz #dementia #gertrudejordan #caregiver
