@bristexastails: Paralyzed dogs are so often overlooked, and I met two today who deserve better. ❤️‍🩹 Meet Twinkle Toes, she is five years old and such a sweet, gentle girl. You can tell she’s ready to be out of the kennel and just wants affection. She was found after her owners left the property and is currently in need of a foster. She’s incredibly loving and just wants to feel safe! Caring for a paralyzed dog looks different, but it is manageable. Many paralyzed dogs do great with wheelchairs, help with bladder expression, and a consistent routine. They can still enjoy life, form deep bonds with their people, and be amazing companions, they just need someone willing to learn and give them a chance. Next is Rosa, she was hit by a car, which caused a spinal fracture and a hip dislocation. She’s currently on strict rest and pain medication as she prepares for hip surgery. After surgery, a medical foster would help her tremendously by giving her a quiet place to recover, assisting with her care, and helping her heal comfortably. Despite everything she’s been through, she’s calm, loving, and so appreciative of gentle touch. 🥲 They aren’t broken. They’re just waiting for someone to see past their injuries and choose them. 📍Houston Humane Society https://www.houstonhumane.org 14700 Almeda Rd Houston, TX 77053 @Houston Humane Society #adoptdontshop #fosteringsaveslives #shelterdog
