This is the opposite way of the safe way to do it… you should always connect the black last and the ground first…

i live in an older home and the outlets in my room are the style where the top outlet always has power and the bottom one is connected with the light switch that turns on and off. Is switching them to both have power all the time a big/serious project in your opinion?

Does this work for the old outlets that have the buttons that say test and reset?? I have some old ones and don’t wanna call a electrician if I can just replace them with updated ones

Good job. The only other thing I would’ve done was wash the wall where the cover plate touches to get rid of the black ring.

If it’s a metal box the ground should be grounded to the box therefore you don’t need to ground the device

this is a good reminder to check gfci outlets too. if they’re loose the test/reset buttons can stop making proper contact

Whats wrong with plugging the wire in and screw it? All new electrical outlet use this method. Often when I twist the wire an angle and screwing it in. It came loose over time or have more chance to spark other wire since it open.
