@beyeperfect: Bible questions: where are the patriarchs buried? This is the site that Jewish tradition calls the Cave of the Patriarchs, known in Genesis as Machpelah, the burial place Abraham purchased in Hebron for Sarah and later associated with Abraham, Isaac, Rebekah, Jacob, and Leah. For more than two thousand years, Jewish, Christian, and Islamic tradition has identified this exact location as the resting place of Israel’s patriarchs, and the massive Herodian stone structure still standing shows that this site was monumentalized in the Second Temple period, not invented in the Middle Ages. While archaeology cannot open the tombs themselves, the continuous, multi-faith veneration and ancient architecture anchor this tradition to a deep and early historical memory.
