I just recently got one of those sponge nets, and after using either a washcloth or one of those scrub sticks my whole life, I can’t get over how amazing and clean you feel after your shower.

Microbiologist here. Please don’t do this. The soap bar is circa pH 9 which will absolutely destroy your skin barrier especially when combined with a rough washcloth. The actual pH of skin is around 4.2 and it will take many many hours (up to 8) to return the skin to baseline pH. This also disrupts the protective Microbiome on the skin which protects against all inflammatory skin diseases, and helps modulate the immune system and skin health.
