I read her book, here's my thoughts on it. I think her book was really educational and parents should read it. Her son had a job, a girlfriend, friends, and he was even in clubs. no one wants to think their kid is capable of that..she did the best she could with her situation, the worst possible situation.

I think people need to remember that when they are looking at this incident, they are viewing it through our current time lens and not looking at it from the perspective of 1999. We know so much more now about the signs etc that we didn’t know about then.

she also apparently is interested in funding research into brain chemistry/structure abnormalities of mass unolivers. she's a prime example of someone who took a horrible situation, an unimaginable situation, and did everything possible in the aftermath to assist others. I'm pretty sure the funds also don't go to her, they go to some sort of organization.

definitely, there are certain things that rub me the wrong way, but i recognise that her overall point is very true. i think people get upset she doesn’t 100% blame herself, but at the end of the day there were failures everywhere. i think if everyone else isn’t taking your sons warning signs seriously, you are way less likely to (especially at that time)

I’ve seen so many people call Sue a narcissist, etc. My view though is that she’s not a narcissist, but a mother whose child did a horrific thing, and she’s trying to do her part to set things right. Well, about as “right” as is possible. Everyone copes and heals differently, and I think this is her way of doing it. As far as I know, she’s never once tried to excuse her son’s actions.
