@georgeplumxx: Training followers unite!!!! Our 4 year old lab is so soft and will just let Bailey bite him all the time. I know its only puppy behaviour but i always thought the older dog was supposed to challenge this but it just isnt happening! We have been telling her no, pulling her away from him and giving her a gentle ‘smack’ on the nose (doesn’t hurt her but its enough for her to know she shouldnt be doing it) when this happens. I just left her to it this time for the sake of the video! #training #puppytraining #pup #advice #labradorretriever #labrador
Second: he Will tell her when she is older. They take a lot of mischeif from babies. When she is bigger he Will tell her off.

I’m late to the party but as a trainer with three dogs, a cat and two of those being labs I disagree with just waiting until he starts telling her off. I think a little of that is fine but he didn’t sign up to raise a puppy, you did. My take is that if you want him to trust that he doesn’t always have to escalate to a correction then you need to step in 90% plus of the time. Many good labs don’t even need to go for a correction, turning or moving away should be enough. If not then puppy is not reading those signals and you can help him learn. Anytime my older dogs turn away from puppy I call and redirect. It taught her that her sister doesn’t want that now. My puppy is just over a year and my older dogs I think maybe corrected her three time. I made sure that I had their backs and honestly they all get along great and respect each other. Added: my breeder has many videos of her adult ‘granny’ dogs turning away or going to a bed so they teach the puppies that means don’t bother me without a correction. It’s a subtle sign that says enough. You just have to catch it to help. Good luck. Can’t see the story update so hope it’s going well

dogs tend to be more patient with puppies because they know that they’re babies, that’s probably why he’s not getting told off yet. if he continues to do it he’ll be told off eventually. dogs are very good at setting boundaries when they’ve had enough, so I wouldn’t worry about it.

you have to make a sharp firm "no" sound loud enough to make them question what they are doing but not loud enough to scare them and then give a treat when he listens so he learns that no means to stop and he gets rewarded if he listens. some dogs are just too sweet to tell off and i dont think that buddy minds too much i guess you just dont want bailey doing it to other dogs 😂 my dog used to do it to my grandparents dog and they didnt tell her off either! both very beautiful doggies tho

when he's really had enough he'll tell her off, if he's on the more anxious and submissive side, it's possible that he's just waiting to make sure that you won't be mad about him being rough but he'll get over that and also realize that baby isn't fragile and needs manners

Put a leash on Bailey and keep removing her from the situation. Preferably BEFORE she does this behavior. Preventing it is better that correcting it. As soon as you think she is up to no good, interfere. Goodluck!

First of all, separate them when she is too intense. She Will soon learn that rough play equals boring time. And also she is a baby. Never ever smack a nose. She Will have no clue why.

I wouldn’t worry , if she’s actually hurting him he’ll tell her off and probably get more strict with her once she’s older, as long as it’s not hurting anyone then I’d just leave it

Leave them to it - the pup is learning limits and red is learning patience. Red will correct if it hurts or has had enough, don't stress
