funny you say that because ayran can actually balance ph in your stomach especially if you're struggling with acid reflux etc. and yeah it's an acquired taste but it is a complimentary drink that goes well with things better than it does on it's own, imo as a turkish person born and raised. also just to confirm, the food you had looks good, usually when i see turkish food abroad it looks woeful. you didn't have any but authentic turkish döner is different than german döner; you get more stuff with german döner, but turkish döner is more meat focused and the meat tastes better.
