Someone said I was overconsuming Labubus. I actually use them. I match the colors to my outfits. The videos they saw was for my bag of the day playlist. If I wasn’t using them, they wouldn’t be on bags.

Yes! Bad overconsumption is buying an entire lipstick collection knowing you’ll only wear 5% of it and the rest will be thrown out within the year when decluttering becomes trendy. Buying multiple of a t-shirt you like that will get worn for the next X amount of years until it can be donated or repurposed is fine. It’s a problem when things start going in a landfill.

Also owning physical media can be preferable! I don’t like chasing a movie through 8 different streaming services. I don’t like that digital platforms can edit existing media (like Amazon did with It’s A Wonderful Life this Christmas)

they view it as over consumption because they cannot conceptualize actually using these things. I own alot of books, I've read 90% of them and am working thru the other 10%. I re read books often. or gift them to others. my hobbies fill my space because that is what I do in it.

I consume a lot of makeup but I literally use it until completion and never return shit that doesn’t work for me. Also do a lot of gifting and giving away! It’s just my hobby

I agree! there is a diff between collecting and amassing things that a lot of young folks don’t understand. Like I own a lot of perfumes and have a pretty big collection but I’ve also been collecting since I was 14 so yeah it’s not insane that I have 30 perfumes. It is insane to buy 30 perfumes at once to fill a shelf.

Alot of people seem to think "overconsumption" means "buying anything they personally would not buy". I saw someone make a video calling buying a single wreath for the holidays over consumption because "you'll probably just throw it out when it isn't trendy" like, can we be serious for a minute
